A rice warehouse and rice-husking mill from the late nineteenth century, now part of an industrial building complex.  »

The name Phenix says it all: this building rises from the ashes of a burnt-down parboiled rice-husking mill. With the warehouse Zaandam it forms a delectable duo on the East Bank of the river in Zaandam. They are now owned by Danisco Zaandam, an affiliate of a Danish concern. The warehouses are part of a building complex in which thickening agents for food and a variety of other industries are produced.
